Escambia County Public Health Clinic

The Escambia County Public Health Clinic project was a result of Escambia County 's efforts to consolidate many of its smaller health clinics. The project consists of over 45,000 square feet of educational, office and clinical space along with a 2,000+ square-foot support building remotely located on the site. Both buildings will be electronically linked to provide a more efficient mode of communications.

The facility was planned to accommodate after-hour educational functions by using an electronic security card access system located at security points throughout the facility. This system allows for independent accessibility to certain areas when needed and eliminates the use of manual keying into the facility.

The building is centrally located towards the north end of the property along the main roadway, allowing for more parking and site circulation in the rear. It also provides for a one-way entry to the property on one side and a one-way exit on the other side. A secondary access road has been provided in the rear of the project site to accommodate future growth.

The facility was designed to create a new image for the Escambia County Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services, and also enhance the existing streetscape along the main roadway. This is achieved by a combination of strong building forms and a heavily landscaped surrounding. The facility's exterior includes multicolored stucco walls, and aluminum door and window frames with blue-green tinted glass. The roof is mostly standing seam metal with the exception of a small flat area covered by a roofing membrane. The metal roof is provided in two colors in order to strengthen the strong building forms while at the same time uniting the facility with the greenery of its landscaped surroundings.
