Special Operations Forces
528th Company Headquarters
Fort Bragg, North Carolina

STOA Architects provided design and construction documents for four buildings for the U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) 528th Special Operations Support Battalion located on two sites within the Battalion's SOFLOG compound as part of the Special Operations Forces (SOF) Company Operations Complex. Projects on the south side include a Company Operations Facility for two companies and a Parachute Rigging Facility with Drying Tower. The north site projects include a Vehicle Maintenance Facility with an organizational vehicle parking hardstand and a Deployment Storage Building.

The Company Operations Facility is a two-story, 22,390 square-foot, masonry and steel building housing the operational functions for two companies. The building is divided in two, with identical space for each company including offices, arms vaults, TA-50 gear lockers, storage, latrines and showers. The ground floor primarily houses support facilities and company storage. Office space for the administration and management of Company operations is located on the second floor. The Parachute Rigging Facility is a single-story, 11,031 square-foot, pre-engineered metal building designed to accommodate parachute storage, packing, inspection, repair and unit administration. A parachute shakeout and Drying Tower is attached to the facility and can accommodate 126 parachutes operated by electric hoist. The Vehicle Maintenance Facility is a 12,090 square-foot pre-engineered metal building with three drive-through bays that can accommodate six vehicles. The bays include Petroleum, Oil and Lubricant (POL) storage, dispensing stations and an overhead bridge crane. Adjacent to the maintenance bays is a two-story area that houses an arms vault, parts storage, reference libraries, administrative office areas and latrines and showers. The building is located on a large hardstand sized to accommodate the company's organizational vehicle parking. The Deployment Storage building is a 2,560 square-foot pre-engineered metal building located on the Vehicle Maintenance Facility hardstand. This building is used for the long-term storage of the company's deployment gear and equipment.

This project included sustainable design development utilizing the Department of the Army's Sustainable Project Rating Tool (SPiRiT), with a goal of achieving a minimum rating of Bronze for each building. The A/E team, in corporation with the Savannah District and Ft. Bragg personnel, strived to achieve higher ratings for the three primary buildings
