STOA Architect earns LEED Accreditation
August, 2007
Veronica Pochet, AIA, a project architect at STOA Architects, has recently earned LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional certification. Her training and certification come in direct response to the increasing demand from public and private clients to design and develop high-performing, energy-efficient, sustainable buildings.
This accomplishment highlights Pochet’s understanding of green building practices and principles, and familiarity with LEED requirements, resources, and processes. In becoming a LEED Accredited Professional, Pochet has demonstrated STOA’s emphasis on sustainable and green design practices.
The LEED Rating System is the nationally accepted standard for green buildings developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). It represents USGBC’s effort to develop a standard to improve environmental and economic performance of buildings using advanced industry principles, practices, materials, and standards. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
All recent federal projects that STOA Architects has participated in have been designed to meet at least the minimum standards for LEED certification. Click on the logo to the right to learn more about the U.S. Green Building Council and the LEED Rating System.
