STOA Architects On the Move

Mark Essert, STOA Architects Senior Architect, has recently been promoted to Principal. Mark has over 30 years of architectural experience, working in various offices in California, Oregon and Florida. As the former president of a design/build firm, Mark served as Principal Architect and General Contractor on several office building projects. He also has experience designing facilities for commercial, manufacturing, residential, health care, educational, research and governmental uses. He graduated with honors from the University of Texas Austin with a Bachelor of Architecture and is a registered architect in Florida. Mark also serves on the Housing and Business Development Committees of the Pensacola Downtown Improvement Board. Mark joins Mark Gilliland, Nancy Gartland, and Bill Amspacher as managing principals of the Pensacola office.
Katie Everton, STOA Architects Intern, recently achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) professional accreditation. This accomplishment highlights Katie’s understanding of green building practices and principles, and familiarity with LEED requirements, resources, and processes. Katie graduated with honors from California State Polytechnic University at Pomona with a Bachelor of Architecture, and studied abroad in Florence, Italy. Her design experience includes completing a variety of educational, municipal, commercial, residential, historic preservation and adaptive re-use projects. She is currently in the process of taking her architectural exams to become a registered architect. In becoming a LEED Accredited Professional, Katie has demonstrated STOA’s continued emphasis on sustainable and green design practices. STOA Architects now has three LEED Accredited Professionals on staff.
