STOA Architects has been providing design services to the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church since 1981 when the firm produced the first of three master planning documents for the church. Building projects have included a chapel addition, a nursery expansion and a sanctuary addition and renovation.
The 2,330 square-foot chapel addition was designed for intimate services such as weddings and funerals. The new chapel seats approximately 90 people and contains rooms for the Bride, Groom, Sacristy preparations and storage. As part of this project, the front entry drive and sidewalks were realigned.
The sanctuary addition and renovation project involved adding 400 seats to the nave, adding 100 seats to the choir-loft, increasing the area and flexibility of the chancel area and upgrading the church's sound and lighting systems. A niche in the new belfry behind the choir loft features a white wall and a cross bathed in a rainbow projected from a large prism above.
